Masters of our fate?

Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.

A friend posted this on her facebook page and I thought it summed up why I started running It certainly isnt easy beginning a running routine at 50...but then again alot of things are hard at 50! Im working on that new ending....hopefully somewhere around 100. So here's to my next 50 years!

The Long and Winding Road

It was our March of Dimes walk here in the Tri Cities today. I decided that I would run the 1st and last mile. Well, once I got going I thought I might as well try to do a little bit more running. Six miles and One hour and 20 minutes later I finished. More running than I have ever done in my life!!!! I learned one thing....I am no t a natural runner. There was an old man that must have been in his 80's there that beat me!!! I envy those that ran by me looking oh so relaxed - and in shape! I plan on working on lengthening my stride. Need to get some advice on that. On the other hand, I never thought I'd be running at 50! So I'm proud that I'm hanging in there! Enjoy all your Moms tomorrow.....mine is in Pittsburgh.....so far away. Wish I could give her a hug!

I'm a winner!

My daughters and I did the Jelly Bean virtual 5k race. There was a prize for the best costume and we won! We dressed as Peeps. I was little Bo Peep, my daughter Melissa was Peeping Tom , and my other daughter Katie was the Peep Show. How creative, right? We thought we were pretty funny. We ran our race along the Columbia River during a 20 mph wind, so our times weren't that great. It was my first virtual race. Looking forward to the next one.

In the beginning

So here I am a 5o year old retired teacher's aide starting a blog! Really? Will I have enough to blog about or completely bore people to tears??? Time will tell. The title of my blog refers to the fact that I have recently decided that I need to take up running for various reseaons. Let's see there is always the weight thing, the high blood pressure and high cholesteral thing, the borderline blood sugar thing, and of course wanting to live to be 100 thing. I will keep you posted on all of these things and try to introduce myself and family to you as I learn this blogging stuff.
